OUR STORY...

Yuri

I’ve always been a huge cat lover. In 2016, we adopted Nadia from St Louis Pet Rescue. I was impressed by the work the volunteers did, how much time and effort they poured into the pets and how conscientious they were with vetting for every animal they took in.

I wanted to do more.

I started helping out by cleaning condos for the cats at one of the stores the rescue works out of. I enjoyed taking care of the cats, getting to know them and hearing about them finding their forever homes. I wanted to do even more.

In 2017, I started fostering. Even though my husband is allergic, I found a loophole. I discovered that there are cats that are more allergy-friendly than others so that became my focus. Since then, I have adopted out over 150 cats, most of which were allergy friendly and many who were adopted to people with friends or family members with mild cat allergies. Still I wanted to do even more.

In 2024, our rescue was struggling financially due to taking in many cats with medical issues. I myself was fostering a few of these cats. I taught myself to hand crochet cat beds to help raise money for the rescue. I also realized that crocheting during long meetings at work helped me to focus on the info being shared in the meeting and calmed me when things at work became tense. I realized very quickly that I have a LOT of long meetings, and I started becoming overwhelmed with pet beds. I wondered if I could translate my new skill into other items, so I branched out into small purses. I saw a video tutorial for how to make a blanket and gave that a try. My daughter asked if I could make her a tote bag. My mom suggested carrier mats. I wanted something small to make quickly, and cat toys made so much sense. My family teases me about my yarn,l addiction and worries that someday they’ll come in m, and I’ll be overtaken by an enormous yarn ball. Given the amount of crocheted items around me I decided it was time to find a a way out of the madness, so Krista Krochets was born.

Stevie Bell

Please know that every purchase you make helps to save lives. That sounds super cheesy and dramatic, but it’s no joke. We are always trying to rescue more cats and find them wonderful, loving homes. I spend way too much money on the cats, but I can’t help it when I see their sad, scrawny little bodies and know that I can help them. So, thank you for reading this lengthy bio and considering to support our business and the cats we care for.

Fenestra

Fenestra is a four-year-old cuddle bug who is the perfect shape for snuggles! She is a wonderful companion, who enjoys a good conversation and quality time with her human. Fenestra would enjoy being an only cat, although she has lived with a small dog in the past. She enjoys sleeping right next to you at night and wants to share in whatever you're doing.

When Darla and Katniss entered rescue, they were diagnosed with FIP, a disease that's fatal to cats without 86 days of treatment. Luckily, these sweethearts pushed through with the help of our wonderful volunteers and have never been healthier or happier. A dynamic mother-daughter duo, Darla and Katniss complement each other in every way. While Katniss is loud, playful, and in your face, Darla is more laid back and prefers to simply soak up your company. Between the two of them, there's a lot of cat to love, and they will love you right back.

Tiramisu

Sweet Tiramisu came into rescue scared and pregnant. We were able to pamper her through the last couple weeks of her pregnancy and provide a safe, quiet place for her to deliver her babies. She has taken great care of them, but is now ready for her next adventure of finding a family of her own. Tiramisu adores affection and loves to trill at you. Currently, she's not a fan of other cats and would enjoy being an only kitty. What about her babies you ask? Stay tuned! Little Macaron, Souffle, Cannoli and Snickerdoodle are still being vetted, but will be available soon.
